Call for Workshops / Tutorials

We invite proposals for workshops and tutorials at HAI 2026 to be held in Osaka, Japan, Nov. 16-19, 2026. The workshop and tutorial sessions aim to provide an opportunity to discuss current and emergent topics on Human-Agent Interaction. The HAI conference seeks relevant proposals from a broad range of disciplines such as engineering, computer science, psychology, sociology, cognitive science, business, advertising/marketing and design.

Topics of workshops/tutorials include, but are not limited to:

• Studies of Human-Agent Interaction, with quantitative/qualitative results
• Theoretical models
• Technological advances
• Experimental methods
• Impacts of embodiment
• Character and avatar design
• Agents in applications, e.g. self-driving cars, social networks
• Agents in business and marketing
• Experience design
• Autonomous and adaptive agents/systems

We welcome both full and half day workshops and tutorials that bridge the gap between theoretical advances and innovative applications of Human-Agent Interaction.

Submission Instructions

Format and Page Limit

The page limit for workshop/tutorial submissions is 2 pages (+ extra pages for references only) in two-column format. Submissions are NOT anonymized, hence please only use “sigconf” document class.

All proposals need to be in the ACM SIGCHI format.

• For LaTeX: Use the latest ACM LaTeX Template files from ACM Templates Site and use the “sigconf” (ACM Default 2 column template: \documentclass[sigconf]{acmart})

Review Process

Workshop and tutorial proposals will be peer-reviewed and will be assessed based on their relevance, quality, and interests to the community.

Notes

• At least one author of each Workshop submission must agree to review two other Workshop submissions.
• All workshops/tutorials participants, including organizers and speakers invited by the workshops/tutorials must register for the conference.
• Tutorials are conceptually different from workshops. Tutorials are given by expert instructors, typically with established reputations, teaching people new to a topic.
