Full Paper Submission Instructions

Format and Page Limit

HAI 2024 will accept only online submissions of PDF files (no MS Word, Latex, etc.). All submissions will be reviewed by three reviewers and will receive a meta review for quality assurance. The paper will be evaluated on the basis of research originality, excellence, and significance, and relevance to HAI. We also invite position papers, preliminary (but high impact) studies, and concept papers.

The page limit for full papers is 8 pages (+ extra pages for references only).  Submissions exceeding eight pages of content, excluding references, will be subject to desk rejection and will not undergo review. Accepted full papers will be published in ACM’s International Conference Proceedings Series and presented during an oral session.

Anonymization

All submissions should be anonymized. Please remove all author information, including references to your own work and institutions. If references must be made, make them in the third person. If a person appears in an image who may be recognized as an author, please blur their face. If possible please list your paper number (assigned by the submission system) in your paper instead of your name.

HAI 2024 uses double-blind review, which means that the reviewers cannot identify the authors of the assigned papers, and the authors cannot identify the reviewers.

Review Process

The HAI 2024 review process involves the Program Chairs, first/second Associate Program Committee chairs (1AC, 2AC), and external reviewers. Each paper will have three reviews, two from external reviewers and one from the 2AC. The 1AC will then provide a meta-review assessment of the three reviews. Once all meta-reviews are entered, the Program Chairs will meet to discuss each paper’s overall score, and the reviews. The Program Chair make a final decision on each paper in coordination with the ACs.

Details

HAI 2024 does not allow duplicate submission. These papers will be automatically rejected without further review.

Authors may upload their papers to preprint repositories such as arXiv.org before submission. It will not result in rejection. However, the authors should anonymize their submission because HAI 2024 uses a double-blind review. We instruct reviewers not actively to find such preprint servers, but encountering them will not constitute a reason for rejection.

Review Process

  • The HAI 2024 review process for posters involves the Poster Chairs, and external reviewers. Each poster paper will have two external reviews, and a meta-review assessment with a final decision by one of the poster chairs. Posters will be evaluated on the basis of research originality, significance, and relevance to HAI.
  • Please Note that in submitting your work, you automatically agree to commit to be a reviewer for the poster submissions. Authors may be asked to indicate their area(s) of expertise when submitting their work, and may be asked to serve as a reviewer for posters that fall into their area.

Workshop/Tutorial Submission Instructions

Format and Page Limit

The page limit for workshop/tutorial submissions is 2 pages (+ extra pages for references only) in two-column format. Submissions are NOT anonymized, hence please only use “sigconf” document class.

All proposals need to be in the ACM SIGCHI format.

  • For LaTex: Use the latest ACM LaTeX Template files from ACM Templates Site and use the “sigconf” (ACM Default 2 column template: \documentclass[sigconf]{acmart} )
  • For Word: Download the sample/template word document(s) from ACM Templates Site. (Included above)

Proposal Outline

Each proposal should outline the following in their proposals:

  • Title
  • Overview
  • Goals and Objectives
  • Workshop/Tutorial Structure
  • Expected Outcomes
  • Expected Audience and Call for Papers Plan
  • Any special requirements needed regarding the logistics (e.g., poster stands, more than one projector), if applicable.
  • Organizers’ list (with biographies)

Review Process

Workshop and tutorial proposals will be reviewed by two expert reviewers, then a meta-reviewer, and will be assessed based on their relevance, quality, and interest for the community.
